Came home to find the very awesome High Voltage edition Guggimon figure from Superplastic and Guggimon waiting for me to open him up and take him out for the first time. I almost passed on this figure as I was not super into the Work and Play edition for the Kickstarter campaign, but after this version came out I knew right away that I would have to pick one up. This particular design just goes with my collection better than the Work and Play addition and I like the accessories that came with is version over the original.

Once out of the box you can really see how clean all the lines are and how every last little detail was meticulously poured over to deliver a production piece that stands out
This guy is 12 inches of super solid vinyl love made expertly by Superplastic. Once out of the box you can really see how clean all the lines are and how every last little detail was meticulously poured over to deliver a production piece that stands out. He is very sturdy, Ā standing perfectly straight, and his bulky feet give him a solid anchor to keep him locked in place in my case. This has been very tricky with the highway construction going on right now in my neighborhood (some of my pieces currently turn slowly in a circle through the week from vibrations). His slender ears and serious gaze made me love him right away.
I will say I am and have always been a sucker for band stickers and what Ā originally drew me to this piece was the Black Flag, Wutang Clan, &Ā GorillazĀ patches covering his denim jacket. Up close these do not disappoint and remind me of my days in bands with my own jacket, patches and iron ons covering it where ever they could fit. The design on the back sums up my general attitude with a healthy "Fuck Off", saying the thing I think in my head daily. The details on the stitching around the edges of the jacket really sell the denim look and it has that nice deep blue color to it which offsets the yellow stitching perfectly, even going onto the back of the piece to make the pockets.

I find that one departure from some of my other Superplastic pieces is that the shoes are locked onto the legs and you can not take them off like most of the figures. The feet are also locked into place which is another thing that is usually more fluid on the Superplastic pieces. A pretty small gripe on an over all amazing figure, but I felt it had to be pointed out in case you get one and immediately try to take the feet off.
Back to the things I love... the case! when I opened the box I almost felt like I might be missing a piece, but then discovered that the little ax case is actually a real case and opens to reveal the ax! It is really nice and flush with the ax inside giving it a real guitar case feel like one of my hard shell cases in the house. It even has that extra little padding border to drive the effect home.
The mask is very sturdy and slips on easily over the head of the figure. I have had some pieces arrive and when I go to slip on the mask the little strap breaks off the mask, but this one is very solid and well connected to the mask. The features on the face line up just right once you slide if down and even it out giving him that creepy murderous look that you love from Guggimon.

This one is really a hit out of the ball park for Superplastic and Guggimon and will have a long and loving stay in my collection from here on out. If you missed out on this, it is your loss and you should for sure keep your eyes peeled for one to scoop up and add to your own collection.
